Really now, who doesn't love JT?

I've gotten into the habit of listening to Justin Timberlake (or JT because we're just that close) on the way home from various locales and last night as I walked home from Easter dinner at The Pansy's I started thinking about The Engineer, so when I noticed he was online as I checked my email, I dropped him a line because I'm clever like that:

Team Gingerbread: Hey, I was listening to JT and I thought of you...
The Engineer: JT?
Team Gingerbread: Justin Timberlake, don't play coy with me
The Engineer: How does he remind you of me?
Team Gingerbread: Well, when we used to make out, sometimes I thought of him...
The Engineer: (silence)
Team Gingerbread: Well have a good night
.
He called me like 5 minutes later and we chatted and made really tentative plans. I think we're ok.

Sequins, really?

Yes, I own an ugly bra that is festooned with sequins, so what? It was $8!

I was in desperate need of a couple new bras but had little time in which to procure them (I was on my break and also had to make a quick trip to MAC for blush) so I had to stop by the LaSenza Express - less selection and literally everything is in bins - because it was on my route. I was elbow-deep in the 'c' bin when out of nowhere this salesgirl is all "Can I help you find your size?" "Uh, no, I'm doing just fine thanks" I said as I quickly fished out the first couple of non-heinous bras I could find in my size.

Of course, one of those bras happened to have sequins all over it, how I failed to notice that fact is beyond me, but the aforementioned sequins tend to fall off willy nilly, kinda like Hansel and Gretel, but with a trail of stripper sequins as evidenced by a recent google chat with The Engineer:

21:18 me: why do you ask?
21:19 The Engineer: ask what?
me: the bra thing
The Engineer: oh because i found these huge sparkles in my bathroom...
me: and you were wondering if they were from me or another ladyfriend?
21:20 just kidding I'm not totally crazy
The Engineer: right
me: um, are they sequins or sparkles?
if they're sequins they're def. mine
21:21 The Engineer: sweet, then i did the right thing by having them framed
me: as a tribute to our failed romance, you lurker?
21:22 The Engineer: don't hate
me: i'm getting a slushie at mac's
jealous?
last time I went and got something you had to go and be a copycat on me
The Engineer: mhmm
but i really wanted ice cream
21:23 and to be fair you had frozen yogurt, and i had the real deal
me: right
not to be competitive or a scorekeeper or anything
21:24 The Engineer: right
how was school?
me: uneventful
my classes are ok, all but one of them are in [the same room]
The Engineer: so you're the anthropology equivalent of veal?
21:25 me: sure if that gets you to sleep at night
21:26 The Engineer: i sleep better knowing that the sequins under my pillow are yours actually
me: alright

On tacky accessories

Team Gingerbread: Oh, hey. I left my cell at your house.
The Engineer: Where did you leave it? I'll go look.
Team Gingerbread: Uh not sure, it's either in your room or on the couch. I think it fell out of my pocket yesterday. It's got the bright green cell phone charm on it, remember?
The Engineer: How could I forget?
Team Gingerbread: Because it's so cute?
The Engineer: No, that's not quite the word I was thinking of
Team Gingerbread: You love it, don't lie. I'm getting you one for Christmas, just you wait
The Engineer: So we can be tacky together? Cute.

I think it would be cute, so much so that I might just attach a cell phone charm to his phone before he leaves (for Christmas/New Year's) as a parting gift. As I've always said, nothing says 'I love you' like Winnie the Pooh dressed up as a horse.

Countdown to 'Le Weekend'

I feel like this week is going to drag on forever and it hasn't even started yet.

I'm ridiculously excited to see Neko Case perform on Wednesday and I won't have to work for three days straight beginning on Thursday night.

This weekend is the first road trip of the summer and we're hitting up the Stampede! I'm a Stampede virgin so it should be good, although I'll have to ditch out on the rides because they make me puke, not so hot.

But, I'll make up for it by being the drunkest one in our group (well, that's my goal at least The Chrisitute is pretty good at stealing my drunk thunder though) on the pubcrawl.

Work on Sunday was predictably really busy, but almost entirely uneventful, and when we weren't crazy busy the girls at work and I regaled each other with tales of Canada Day debauchery.

Sidenote:

My very drunk (and possibly crazy) roommate, The Fauxhawk, just returned from a night out on the town with her scuzzy modded car friends and exclaimed:

"I'm not drunk! Wait am I drunk? Why did my purse just fall down?"

She may or may not engage in very loud drunk sex with her strange manfriend, somebody save me!

I just can't picture this girl grasping the concept of 'courtesy music' since she isn't able to pick up on other social cues as evidenced by the following excerpt from an msn convo with The Christitute about The Fauxhawk:

[team gingerbread]...I have a full-time job, I go out every night - random, a guy just showed up at our with with delivery pizza, except no one knows who ordered it

Pledge Master [Pancake] - hmm

[team gingerbread]...I have a full-time job, I go out every night - [the fauxhawk] just tried to parlay that situation into a conversation with me - awkward

[team gingerbread]...I have a full-time job, I go out every night - ...and then i'm just like "i'm not wearing a bra, does it look like i want to chat"?

MSNing about music

[Gingerbread]...some people do arts & crafts; I judge [ladytron on the 23rd!]: You should check out this band, Kudu. I got some random email from their record company. I'm officially obsessed with their music though, it's delish.

mav - "gimme face!": fucking magical. King Kong's definitely my favorite track. but yeah this is some hot shit. i went dancing with some of the cast members of the vagina monologues a couple of times and i realized that my dance moves are only ever deemed not weird by other hipsters who can't dance for shit. but man, i could totally groove to this shit.

um yeah, H-O-T-T. They're on iTunes if you wanna check em out

Step 1: Open mouth...

Everyone has that one friend who always makes racist comments and then claims that it's ok b/c she's dating someone of that ethnicity, or is part-whatever right? Well here is one more nugget of wisdom straight from the horse's mouth.

I was msning with an old roommate, and he mentioned that he ran into one of my sorority sisters on the street. She said that she was dating someone new and that he was half Filipino, half French, and then she busts out this fabulous one-liner:

mav - Heil Harper! Mein Furher! says: and she's like "yeah, he's part asian. but not where it counts" i'm like "you know i'm asian, right?'

team gingerbread...oxbow lakes aren't going to just teach themselves says: wow, what did she say to that?

mav - Heil Harper! Mein Furher! says: she laughed, but I still don't think she got it

team gingerbread...oxbow lakes aren't going to just teach themselves says: lol, well it's not funny but...you know
