I was sitting on the couch last night after work chatting with my roommate before we went to go see a play that our new roommate was in at The Fringe, and I had picked up a free weekly to get a synopsis. I've been working 6 days-a-week for the past little while and I'm so out of it that almost every morning, I wake up in a panic because I have no idea what day it is until I take a quick glance at my cell phone or computer screen.
Gingerbread (emitting girlish scream): Ooooh! I love both of these bands...and they're playing together!
The Christitute: Cool
G: I'm going to see it for sure, it's on the 18th
TC: That was last week
G: Yes it was (bitter aside: my life sucks)
P.S. For those of you wondering, I won the bet

Holler back now
Nicole's post about outdated urban slang just jogged my hazy drunken memory about how my roommate confirmed, once again, that I'm the whitest black person ever.
I was talking about how one of the stores that I get a huge discount in at the mall is having a purse sale (50% off!), and since it's an urban store, I've only been in there a handful of times (like 3 times really, and all but one were because I was pretty much forced to go there). We were chatting about all the different brands of purses that were on sale right now and I casually mentioned RocaWear, and the music all but stopped.
"Uh, RocaWear? You know you just mispronounced it right?" spat The Christitute (my only black friend btw, and she's half)
"Guys, I know how it's pronounced! It's just I'm so used to referring to RVCA (pronounced Ru-ka) all day long that I messed up - also, I'm quite drunk right now"
"Whatever! It's just further proof the you're the whitest black person ever, jeez..."

The errand girl
It doesn't even feel like I've had a day off yet.
Yesterday was my supposed one day respite from the daily grind, and guess what time I dragged myself out of bed on my leisurely day off - yeah 8 am, I live a charmed life.
I had so many miscellaneous errands to run that I was out of the house from 9:45-5:30, although at least now I have some groceries to show for it so that I don't have to subsist on coffee with nutrasweet/coffeemate (the true breakfast of champions)
All told, I accomplished all but a few of my errands, but I can finish that up today at work, I just didn't feel like trekking all the way to the West End to pick up flip flops that I wouldn't be able to wear because it was raining, and I'm not really sure if I need to buy the new Matix purse from work (it's called the Fairuza Tote, it's under accessories, but I want it in brown) but I probably will.
I also snagged some tickets to the MSTRKRFT show next Wednesday, so I'm pretty pumped. Almost as pumped as I am about agonizing over what to eat again, because you know, I have more than two options now. Maybe today will be blueberries and cottage cheese for breakfast.

Desperately seeking summer (reading) - and a retraction
So I had previously stated that I didn't think that opposites attract - my lovely roommate, The Christitute, informed me that I was wrong and that they do, in fact, attract because we're total opposites and also really good friends. I should have clarified that I meant romantically.
It's so humid here and it makes me miss being at home so much. Edmonton is ridiculously dry, and almost rarely humid, so while everyone else is complaining about the humidity, I'm reveling in it. It's not summer in my mind, unless is oppressively hot for at least 2 months straight.
Too bad I won't get to enjoy it for the most part, because I'll be trapped in an air-conditioned mall for the better part of the day/evening, most likely unpacking hoardes of sweet new Franklin&Marshall stuff.
I've also long since finished all the books on my summer reading list and am now in desperate need of new books to keep the freaks/creeps from engaging in inane conversation with me on my daily commute to work. My gay boyfriend suggested I pick up Pink Blood because I've been meaning to read it ever since he raved about it last year, but I'd never gotten around to actually looking for it at the bookstore.
For now, I guess I'll have to re-read Lauren Weisberger's Everyone Worth Knowing and eat bon bons.

Another day, another dollar
Well, not really since I'm currently living the underemployed life. I'm just waiting for the roommates to get back from downtown so we can visit Chase at Starbucks.
Hopefully this will get my mind off the engineer…

The Laguna Beach Drinking Game
In honour of the obsession (read: Pancake and Gingerbread's pathetic obsession with Laguna Beach) - the Laguna Beach drinking game:
* If there’s ever an awkward pause in a conversation, one person puts a sip of their drink in the middle cup.
* If Jason totally lies to a girl, all guys drink.
* If Jessica claims she’s over Jason, all girls drink.
* If Talan claims to love/like either Kristin or Taylor, everyone drinks.
* If any of the girls go shopping, all the boys drink.
* Any time the boys go surfing, all the girls drink.
* If Lo says anything at all, everyone does a shot.
* If LC is happy for more than 10 consecutive seconds, everyone drinks.
* If Kristin talks about hooking up, all single people drink.
* Any time Cedric, “Jason’s friend”, say something, all people missing a chromosome drink.
* Any time Alex M. says anything, everyone with an STD drinks.
* If any of the cast goes to a ridiculously expensive restaurant on a date, everyone drinks.
* Any time Stephen gets dissed by Kristin, everyone drinks.
* Any time Taylor says anything, anyone who looks like they were beaten half to death with a 2×uc0 × has to drink.
* Any time there’s a blatant shot of Jessica’s HUGE tits, everyone does a shot.
* If Casey mentions “Quesadillas”, everyone who doesn't get it drinks.
* Whenever Kristin rolls her eyes, each girl can give out one drink.
* Whenever Jason doesn’t make eye contact, each guy can give out one drink.
* Any time someone watching the show says “This shit is so scripted”, that person has to do a shot.
* Any time someone says “So what’s up with you and _______ ?”, anyone in a relationship has to drink.
* When someone explicitly mentions sex, the last person in the room to have lost their virginity drinks the center cup.
I'd like to thank my friend Dave for filling my inbox with gems like these!
and now, back to the LB binge-athon

Who needs food and shelter when you've got music?
So both Bonnaroo and Coachella have announced their lineups. I'd prefer to go to Coachella, but I just don't know 1. if I can afford it and 2. if I'm going to be finished my exams. I would KILL to see some of the acts at Coachella mostly b/c I'll likely never get another chance to see them as Edmonton isn't exactly the first stop on anyone's tour.
While Bonnaroo's lineup which includes Cat Power, Damian Marley, Ben Folds, Death Cab, Dungen, Donavon Frankenreiter, the Magic Numbers, Beck, Radiohead and Tom Petty is good; Coachella's is better.
The full lineup according to NME and Stereogum includes Cat Power, Imogen Heap, the Subways, Bloc Party, Sigur Ros, Common, Franz Ferdinand, Ladytron, the Go! Team, Clap Your Hands, Lady Sovereign, Deerhoof, Youth Group, Scissor Sisters, Sleater-Kinney (I absolutely love them, I last saw them in 2000), Depeche Mode, Metric, Wolf Parade, Digable Planets, Phoenix, and the Dears just to name a few.
I am at a loss for words. Being broke all summer would definitely be worth it if I got to go to Indio!
