"Tag, you're it"

The Goth Girl: The Jewish Camp Counselor thinks your really funny you know. He was still laughing at that joke you made about the lighting like 20 minutes later.
Team Gingerbread: I am pretty funny. Next time you should probably also mention that I put out.
The Goth Girl: (aghast)
Team Gingerbread: What? I'm just saying...

Team Gingerbread/Airquote: Yeah, now that The Pansy is out of town, the One Love mixtape is out of rotation for a bit...
Cute 'n' Fresh: I love that CD too - You'll have to get rid of me first!

Team Gingerbread: Yo, where are we going to put these shoes?
The Chocolatier's Ex: Um, on my feet, because they're sweet!
Team Gingerbread: You're crazy, I love it, but you're crazy.

The Goth Girl: (incredulous) You've never been [to go play laser tag]?
Team Gingerbread: Upper middle class, motherfucker. We go boating and riding and stuff.

Team Gingerbread: So, like, are there uniforms and stuff? Will we have to get changed?
The Chocolatier's Ex: (snidely) Yeah there's uniforms
Team Gingerbread: Again, I've never done this before so chillax
Team Gingerbread: Remember, "sailing and horsebackriding?"
The Chocolatier's Ex: Right

The Chocolatier's Ex: Oh, you might have to take off your jewelery. Last time I went, I had to remove my earrings...
AirQuote: Um, these earrings don't come out. And I didn't buy a heart-shaped pendant that matches my shirt so that I could take it off. No way.
Team Gingerbread: So it sounds like we might be joining The Goth Girl's mom for coffee

later

AirQuote: Sorry we're late, we had to pick up snacks.

The Goth Girl called on Friday night inviting myself, AirQuote and The Chocolatier's Ex out with a few of her friends for some laser tag. Not really my bag, but I was willing to play nice for the sake of being social.

She was pregaming at her house with her aforementioned friends and told us to call her when we were off work/on our way over. We drove over to her place but by the time we got there, we had to head out almost immediately. We left in separate cars and ours stopped off for snacks on the way, by the time we rolled up it was approaching 10:30 and I suddenly realised just how tired I was, and called it a night only to come home to one of my recent eBay purchases crammed into the mailbox.

I promptly put on my new WESC tee and finished my can of Tab before heading to bed. I subsequently had the worst nightmares, most likely due to my bedtime energy drink consumption.

My swinging Sunday night

I don't really think that it's too much to ask that if you go out with one of your good friends (and sorority sister at that) that you could maybe tear yourself away from the ugly guys you're throwing yourself at for two seconds to take care of her when she spend the better part of your night out, curled up in a porta-potty puking her guts out, no?

Maybe it's just me, but I would hope that you'd have the sense to do something, or at least call someone else to help you out if you're unable to, although ramming your tongue down some guys throat isn't exactly a viable definition of 'busy' or 'unable to'.

Granted she did call and apologize for being an ass the next morning, but still.

--------

On Sunday night, two of my sorority sisters went out to see KR's friend perform at some sort of Capital Ex kickoff-type party. On their way out of the house, I told them to let me know if they were planning on doing something fun afterwards, because I had no desire to go to the bar they would be at.

I didn't really expect a call because TC had been mad at me earlier, but sure enough sometime after 10:30pm I get a call from a very drunk TC telling me to get ready because the party was very lame and she wanted to have some fun, she promised to call back and half an hour later I was still waiting for that phone call.

I called her back, only to speak to KR (it was KR's phone because TC had left hers at home) but I could barely hear her - it sounded like she was right in front of a speaker. She said she'd call me back, again no phone call. At this point, I'm slightly tipsy because I've started gettting ready to go out, so I call her back and tell her to go somewhere where she can hear me so that we can chat.

'Where's TC?' I asked, mildly concerned. All I had caught about her whereabouts from our previous conversation was that she was passed out somewhere.

'Oh, she's passed out in a bathroom stall' came KR's blase response.

'What? For how long?'

'A while, she's locked herself in there and won't come out'

'Are you serious? I'm coming over there. I'll take her home'

'OK, I'll see you later then'

I managed to catch one of the last trains downtown from our house and got off right in front of the bar where they were but it looked deserted. 'Where are you guys?' I asked when KR picked up her phone. 'We're at The Bank' we're just behind the bar in a tent. Come around the corner'

KR led me to TC and then went back out to rejoin her friends and give us some time alone. TC refused to leave with me, I told her that I was staying all night if it came down to it, and that it was in her best interests to come home with me. After roughly an hour of cajoling she finally emerged from the bathroom.

I had discovered an abandoned tub of beer earlier in the night, so I was entertaining myself by drinking as much of it as I could in a short span of time while idly waiting outside the washroom for her.

We cabbed it home and TC graciously offered to pay for it, but since I'm not a total asshole, I declined (however, if I had been picking her up on the West End, my answer might have changed).

Then TC decided that she was so tired that she'd jsut sleep on the front steps. 'Uh, are you sure? What will the neighbours think?'

'I'm fine, get me a blanket. I'm cold'

'We could just go inside...'

'No, I'm fine!' came her increasingly irate slurred speech.

'Do you want water? I'll get you some water'

'No, I'm fine!'

'I brought you water...'

'No, I'm fine! I don't want water...do you have a straw?'

After letting her sleep it off on the steps for about half an hour I eventually convinced her that sleeping inside was a swell idea, which was for the best since it rained hours later - although in retrospect, that probably would have taught her a valuable lesson...

Sisters in Need

Last night, some of the girls and I went out to Wooly Bully's to support one of our sorority sisters in an Industry Night-type glorified drinking contest to win a trip house-boating (most likely in the Okanagan) because the restaurant where she works was participating, but I was closing so we got there really late, and we were sober so it got old kinda quickly, but it was nice seeing her, because I haven't seen her in ages, even though she's also employed at the mall.

We bid her a good night, and headed to the liquor store to see if we could get drunk for cheap and go somewhere else, but they were out of Boone's, so we dejectedly headed home, stopping for snacks along the way.

I, of course, have to open today, so I'm off to work again, even though I was just there approximately 12 hours ago, sweet.

Oh, and for those of you keeping track, it's 2 days until the debauchery moves to a different area code for a weekend!

Sisterhood Sunday

I'm such a bad friend, I was supposed to go to a musical yesterday, but I forgot to call and tell P that I wasn't gonig to make it. I've come to a decision about something that's been bothering me lately, although I don't know if I'll have the guts to tell the person or not.

It's our sorority's monthly forced sisterhood day. It sounds kind of weak, forcing people who are supposed to be sisters to interact, but it's just a fun opportunity to interact one-on-one with the girls you don't see as much. I know personally, I hang primarily with the girls that either live in the house, or come by the house a lot.

For some of our girls, because of boyfreinds, school, and work, we end up only seeing them for meetings and the odd fraternity social, so I actually look forward to the one Sunday a month that we get to hang out without some other ulterior agenda.

Crapulous is the new hangover

Word of the Day for Saturday March 11, 2006

crapulous
\KRAP-yuh-lus\, adjective:

1. Suffering the effects of, or derived from, or suggestive of gross intemperance, especially in drinking; as, a crapulous stomach.

[Ed. Wow. Gingerbread and I are more alike then i dreamed possible. I originally posted this without reading an updated version of our blog, and it turns out Gingerbread had already posted the exact same dictionary quote of the day! this is a little weird to say the least.
Gingerbread, are you stalking me???]

Yeah, so I'm glad that I decided to expand my knowledge; trying to make myself a better person and whatnot by signing up for a Word of the Day email list! Because then I get to use words like THIS, that obviously may come into context more often than not :)

However, I've decided not to induce any 'crapulousness' for the next while.. not until Formal Season.. I have too much shit to get done. I am so obviously very important!

I've started collecting Kokanee drink stubs at work! I work in an irish pub, and our receipts that we print out only say 'local bottle' or 'local draft' and not the brand name. so I've just been stealing the chits that print up for the servers to hand to the bartenders... we have a contest every Frat Nite at our university oncampus watering hole, and Kokanee sponsors it. they end up using every receipt handed in as an entry form to win prizes. I already used up my Earls gift certificate I won this month... so I've been pushing Kokanee products on everyone that comes in, because no one ever really buys the stuff in an irish pub. I'd definitely say that kokanee consumption is up 5fold since I've started, so I definitely wouldn't consider it cheating that I'm using bar receipts because I'm the one that's convincing people to buy it! my goal is the SuperLargePrizeOfTheYear that usually is given away the last BarNite of the year. which is next month. WE'LL WIN!! surround sound speakers and big screen tv's for everyone!!!! woop woop!

k, off to studying!

Drunks and the women who love them

I work at a bar, and the irony is not lost on me, however I was in the middle of a pretty heavy bonding session with Pancake last night, and in stumbles a pretty soused TRQ and The Convict (her manfriend of late). We pretty much told then that they should go downstairs because 1. they smelled like booze, 2. Convict is boring, 3. We were having a private conversation(we were the only ones home), and 4. They were being kinda loud and I could see Bacon getting annoyed. I live upstairs too, and I know that when people are talking in the hallway or the living room, they might as well be sitting on your bed talking loudly in your ear while you attempt to sleep.

The Convict to me, is barely tolerable when he's sober primarily because he just not funny

ex. "I was on a trip to this place called 'Bird Island', and when I got there I was just like 'Holy shit! There are a lot of birds here!' or 'I love Coldplay. It reminds me of driving down to California at 2am...'".

He tells a lot of really pointless stories where the punchline is just so anti-climactic that you just look at him thinking 'why are you still talking'. The Roadtrip Queen met him over our New Year's trip to Penticton, BC. Once we got back, she was showing pictures of this guy she'd made out with to her friend TJ, who does a double-take. She's convinced the guy TRQ is seeing is a friend of her brother's from high school who held up the McDonald's that he worked at!

This would be so much funnier if TRQ didn't really like the guy. So we've all kind of held our tongues about what a douche he is, even when he dropped TJ down our stairs on her back/neck.

I just ran into TRQ in the kitchen and jokingly asked her if she remembered coming home last night, to which she snaps 'I do, and I also remember you telling us to go downstairs, but I knew I didn't have to go'. Whatever! You know just as well as I do, that there is a fine line between vaguely amusing drunk people (Pancake and Latte that night at the Bank in retrospect) and annoying drunk people (TRQ and The Convict rambling rather nonsensically).

"No, I don't want to go to your hockey game...I just want to make out!"

Always the classy lady.

I got back from Vancouver this afternoon, and after downloading the L Word, I went to drop off a little gift for Crumpet. I picked her up a poster from the concert I went to on the weekend and I had to pick up my T4 from work. Apparently, Crumpet's shins have been acting up again, which resulted in a protracted stay in the ER.

Onion, Pancake, and I waited it out with her, and they pretty much told her to ice her shins, after a 6 or 7 hour wait. Boo. My sleeping schedule is all fucked up so I'm just going to watch the L Word and Project Runway reruns until I pass out. I'm still running on fumes from Van. [Ed. apparently I totally forgot about my emergency joint. Nope, didn't help. Now my hands smell like weed and I'm restless!]

In other news, I found out today that the guy that called for Onion the other day was this carnie she met over the summer, no joke. She'd been avoiding his calls over the summer, and then ended up changing her number when she moved back to Alberta for school. He tracked her down at home, oops. The funny thing is that she had no idea how he had gotten her number, apparently I 'forgot' to mention that I had let the cat out of the bag.

peace out,
team gingerbread

p.s.

* Tomorrow is controller.controller and if someone wants to go, I have an extra ticket. I think the show is sold out.
* On the subject of making out, Onion and I decided that Pancake needs to get hot and heavy in the Buttercave. For those of you that are not in the loop, the buttercave is the crawlspace that her bed is housed in. Candidates can apply in person, short guys need not apply.
* Pancake in no way endorses this manhunt. This is obviously our thinly veiled attempt to live vicariously through her.
