The end of an era

The Engineer moves back home tomorrow and then to Toronto sometime in July. I'm still reeling from the news and I don't really know what I'm going to say when I see him tonight other than "I always pictured myself being the one to leave you..."

More than anything I'm surprised that he'd want to leave the 'land of opportunity' (his words not mine) for greener pastures but I guess it's for the best. I've always said that I planned to move back to Ontario after school was finished and I was sick of Alberta so if we meet up again it's meant to be (not that I believe in any of that fate junk, but whatevs)

I'm far more broken up about this than I let on and it'll be kinda hard to see him off knowing that we probably won't be seeing each other again anytime soon.

Sigh.

Hot Flashes 'R' Us

I think I'm going through early menopause.

I: am always irritable, am experiencing hot flashes, and I have completely lost my sex drive.

Menopause is the only logical explanation.

Have a good weekend.

Engaged, really?

One of our friends got a ring (promise, not engagement) from the boyfriend, because we're all incredibly mature, this is the conversation that followed:

The Goth Girl: Alright, let me have it. I want to hear what you've got to say about this so we can get it over with
Team Gingerbread: I just don't understand how you think you're ready to get married if you don't even know your shoe size...
The Pansy: Oooh, burn (makes the fist pound motion)
Team Gingerbread: But seriously, do you want to marry him?
The Goth Girl: It's not an engagement ring, it's a promise ring...
The Pansy: But it was from the engagement ring section
Team gingerbread: I just don't understand why you need a ring to remind you that you're in a relationship
Team Gingerbread: I have a funny story about promise rings...The punchline was "Do you know what a promise ring means Anne? It means you don't fuck other people!" Oh the joys of eavesdropping in rez

Best. Personal. Ad. EVER!

It is a beautiful sunny Sunday, and my relationship status is such that I am cleaning out my sock drawer. I get to the bottom, and discover 5 blue, foil squares. Ah, old friends, I remeber you well. The optimism of buying a box of 12. The butterflies in the stomach on the night of your unveiling. And now you sit abandoned. And, it turns out, soon to expire. I'm a frugal sort. I hate wasting anything. So now I've got a timeline for final deployment: Nov 2006. I'm very task-oriented - I love working against a deadline. Don't pass up this opportunity, the offers on the table. Interested parties e-mail xxxxxxx.xxx@gmail.com

Formal date, is that you? Gingerbread thinks to herself...

Wonders will never cease

Yesterday I raged on about the bitches in my soc class for taking up all the seats, blah blah blah. Turns out the reason there were so few seats is because I have a midterm tomorrow in that class. Um, right. I figured a midterm was coming up sooner or later, it just never occured to me that it would be tomorrow. This might not have snuck up on the average person, but since I ditched school for an entire week last week, I have no one to blame but myself.

I decided to skip my criminology class this afternoon to study (I have to work in 6 hours), and my first order of business was checking my RSS feeds (the second of course, is watching my stories). Kate over at Logged Hours outlines why relationships make you fat, yet another reason why I'm not in a relationship Latte. This of course makes it somewhat hard to find a formal date*, so as long as you're not Franchise, I'd be down with taking you as my date.

On that note, I have to go watch Days...and study of course.

*my only real requirements being that you:
are literate, are funny, will put out

Formal invites

So formal season is almost upon us, and some of our girls have two or three formals to go to this year. I was at work chatting with a guy from a fraternity and somehow our formal came up. I think he had been asking me about when our next party was going to be and I replied 'Oh, I don't know, maybe after formal'. He then asked when our formal was, April 8th, and he proceeds to say 'Oh yeah, I'd love to go to your formal'.

I don't know if he was saying this because he thought we should go together (I diasgree on this one) or if he somehow got the idea I liked him (Latte after our last party: "Weren't you trying to get into his pants?"), but I think I'd prefer to go alone that go with him. Also, we kind of have this unofficial rule that we'll only bring someone as our formal date if they'll put out. I almost jokingly yelled this at him as he was leaving, which in retrospect, would have most certainly led to some confusion.

Formal season - or the slow mental decline of sorority girls everywhere

It's fraternity and sorority formal season, the time of year that dates become scarce as the formal date looms menacingly. I haven't even really started worrying, no dress is picked out, no dates queued up, no nothing. It's the type of thing that people put more time into than their weddings; someone almost always ends up mortifiyingly drunk and at least one person ends up in tears.

We have our formal at the beginning of April so as to not conflict with the other girls' formals, but that doesn't even begin to assuage the stress. There are menus to consider, to have a dance or to not have a dance, open bar vs. cash bar vs. no bar at all, decorations, awards, the list is endless.

I think the biggest stress for the single gals like myself is finding a date. This seems like a fairly straightforward part but no, there are so many things to be considered. First and foremost is whether to bring a frat guy or a GDI (God-damned independent). Bringing a GDI is fine, but if everyone elses dates are in frat it can make it awkward for them, but they also probably won't expect you to put out. According to a certain male chauvinist friend of ours, Props, the guys in their frat usually only bring girls, or agree to be a girl's date, they believe will put out.

After finding a date, the biggest stressor is, of course, the dress! You want a dress that makes you look sexy, without being slutty and will also fit in with all the other girls' dresses. You don't want to be too informal for fear that you're the least dressed up there. If you're someone's formal date you need to look even better.

Then comes the menu - there is always someone that doesn't like something on the menu. This may cause tears, fights or both. As for the bar there are always going to be a few people who just want to get really trashed at formal and a couple who don't want to drink at all; I'm in the latter camp.

Latte and Cowgirl are always trying to set people up and 'find formal dates' for everyone and their dog. They both have some sort of sick fascination with formals (more so Cowgirl). They can usually be found polling the girls to see who wants to go to which formal and then chatting amongst themselves to figure out who's date they could be. Last year Bacon's date ignored her the whole time. Pancake actually had a guy ask her if he could be her date to our formal, she declined (rather foolishly according to Waffle, Latte and I).

Props says that he would love to have all of our girls at his formal, and the surefire way to do so is to'pretend you're going to sleep with them to get invited'. And then what, hope that your reputation as a tease doesn't catch up with you?

Ugh, I'm so sick of formal alread and I've still got 2 months to go. I do still however need a date, so if you're interested, let me know. You will, of course, have to put out to get invited to our formal. It's only fair...

Wet Wet Wednesdays

Let's start off with tonight shall we:
We're at our local watering hole, to celebrate Noel birthday, and I figured he'd the drunkest one there.

Not so.

Apparently Drunkass #1 wanted to challenge him for that title, and clearly won when he started taking off his shirt and dancing in the middle of our dank, dark pub.. with all of 20 people present.

Of course, Noel jumped in, along with Drunkass #1's friend, Drunkass#2 (now abbreviated to DA1 and DA2) and Noel's brother, Drew.

So, shirts were off, boys were dancing, pictures were taken, then DA1 clearly thought to himself "Hey, why not cross the line?"

So the guys were putting on their shirts and walking away, when DA1 removed his PANTS! pulled up his boxers in wedgie-thong action, then proceeded to go on all fours and hump the air - priceless!

Our server got it on her videophone .. while almost peeing herself laughing, while the bartender started SPRAYING HIM DOWN with the bar gun.

The guy keeps dancing, rubbing his manboobs and doing the Beyonce Bounce while people were awestruck/dumbfounded by the show; it was like a car accident - you don't want to see it, it ain't pretty, but you can't turn your eyes away.

Other than that, my week has been pretty boring. I started a new diet, but I keep making the mistake that just because the package says 'organic' doesn't make it 'good for me'... hence the 8 maple-syrup waffle cookie concoctions I ate this afternoon... ewww.

I was serving a table last night that invented a drink called 'B-cup' that consists of Baileys, Malibu and Milk. Their bill was huge (550$) and they were quite drunk by the end, cheering whenever I arrived at the table. When I brought a tray of them over, they kept cheering "B-cup!!!" and it turns out everyone else in the pub thought THAT B-CUP WAS IN REFERENCE TO MY BRA SIZE!.. and that my table had given me a nifty new nickname.

Ugh! I hope this one doesn't stick, cause the bartender DID think it was quite funny. damnit.
Other news..some of our girls and I helped a friend of ours, Props, in a DragQueen contest of sorts.. we practiced for a few weeks on a dance routine; us as Drag Kings, him as a Marquette, the Drag Queen. WE KICKED ASS AND WON!

The best part is that when he was walking down the street, guys who didn't pay too much attention to his face totally thought he was A HOT WOMAN and were sharing lustful sidelong glances and the best reaction was a girl who hit her bf and yelled "at least let me catch you going after a WOMAN next time!" - LMAO.

So I'm planning on actually going to my 8 am class tomorrow morning.. wish me luck! woop woop!
